Three Locals Hurt In Muara-Tutong Highway Accident

Bandar Seri Begawan - Three locals from one family suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the RIPAS intensive care unit after an accident at the Muara-Tutong Highway yesterday morning.

The injured were identified as Dyg Jamilah, Pg. Isnin and Ak. Amiruddin.

In the accident that occurred at around 9.55am, three cars which were heading for Tutong district collided. According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved two cars in the left lane and another vehicle travelling in the right lane.

The accident apparently occurred when one vehicle in the left lane was overtaking and collided with the oncoming traffic and subsequently both hit the car being overtaken.

Sengkurong police station received the distress call at around 10.05 am.

Meanwhile, another accident also involving three cars occurred yesterday at Mile 18, Lamunin in Tutong district, near the junction leading to Kg. Kuala Abang and Tutong road at around 3pm .

Police and Fire Services personnel arrived immediately in the scene to ease traffic congestion. Village residents said accidents always occur in the area, especially at night as the road is quite confusing to some drivers. No serious injury was reported. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
