His Majesty Holds Bilateral Talks With Five Nations In KL

Kuala Lumpur - His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei held bilateral meetings with leaders of the Non-Aligned Nations attending the summit yesterday.

The Sultan held five separate bilateral meetings with five leaders in Kuala Lumpur.

The Brunei ruler first held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, Mr Hamid Karzai.

His Majesty then met with the President of East Timor Mr Jose Alexander Gusmao. East Timor is the newest member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The monarch later met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Mr Rafiq Hariri.

Next was the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr Mohammad Khatami. Lastly, His Majesty held a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the Syrian Arab Republic Mr Abdul Halim Khaddam.

During the bilateral meetings, His Majesty and the leaders discussed bilateral matters and exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.
