Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) recently celebrated the Lunar New
Year in style!
Over 400 distinguished guests,
which included diplomatic representatives, government officials
and valued customers of SCB, were ushered into Centrepoint's
Goldstone Ballroom in Gadong to celebrate the "Year of the
Ram".
The joyous blend of music and
laughter was the main focus for the "Gong-Xi Gong-Xi Cha
Cha Cha" night.
A spectacular hair-raising lion
and dragon dance by Chung Hwa Middle School thrilled everyone in
the ballroom. Meanwhile, guests were enjoying a lavish 8-course
Chinese banquet.
Throughout the rest of the
evening, a professional Singaporean performer, who introduced
herself as Bibi Kaypoh, entertained guests with a mixture of
comedy and upbeat Chinese pop songs. There were also local
performers dancing the beats of "Cha Cha Cha" and
"Jive".
Guests also had a chance to win
attractive prizes from a number of lucky draws organised that
evening. Prizes that ranged from air-tickets to holiday spots
like Brisbane, Hong Kong and Singapore, to other items like SONY
digital cameras, Ericsson mobile phones and TEFAL juice
blenders, were up for grabs.
Bibi Kaypoh encouraged a number
of guests to step forward and take part in a number of dancing
games such as "Sarong Cha Cha", "Customers Cha
Cha Cha" and the mass "Les Cha-Tup" dance.
Hans Theilkuhl, CEO of SCB
thanked their valued customers for believing in SCB and pointed
out that the Year of the Ram was a very special year for SCB as
it coincided with their 150th anniversary.
"To celebrate the golden
milestone, SCB has lined up a series of events throughout the
year 2003," he added.
