The Fire Services Department continues its fight against
bushfires affecting most parts of the country due the prevailing
dry season.
Besides protecting life and
property, such preventive effort of the department is also vital
in saving the treasured forests in the country from perishing in
fires.
The department had recorded a
total of 61 calls on bushfires and 71 calls on grassfires
throughout the country in the recent week.
The dry season that hit the
country a few months ago was the major cause of these fire
occurances. The dry conditions can easily cause bushfire in any
forests including those situated near residential areas, usually
without any visible signs.
The department has repeatedly
reminded the public to abstain from open burning activities so
as not to worsen the smoky conditions in the country.
Meanwhile, the Public Works
Department is also involving in the fight against bushfires by
supplying water to the fire fighting team.
