Proud moment as long service
rewarded

One hundred and thirty-six employees
from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd
(BLNG) and Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn. Bhd (BSM) were beaming
with pride when they received their emblems in a presentation ceremony
to honour their long years of service with their respective Petroleum
companies. With a combined years of service totalling 3,595, the grand
and memorable night for the employees who have served 35, 30 and 25
years was held at the Empire Theatre.
Presenting the Long Service Emblems
for 35 years and 30 years for BSP,BSM and BLNG employees was the
attending guest of honour, Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri
Setia Awg Hj Abd. Rahman bin Dato Setia Hj Mohammad Taib, Minister of
the Industry and Primary Resources and Chairman of the PetroleumBrunei,
BSP and BLNG.
Pehin Dato Awg. Hj Abd Rahman also
presented long service emblems to Mr Chris Finlayson, Managing
Director of BSP and BST, and Mr. Brian Straub, Technical Director at
BSP, to mark their 25 years of service. Presenting the Long Service
Emblems for 25 years for BSP employees was Mr Finlayson, Managing
Director of BSP and BST.
Dato Paduka Hj Hamdillah bin Hj. Abd.
Wahab, Managing Director of BLNG, presented the Long Service Emblems
for 25 years to BLNG employees. And Pg. Hj Yasmin bin Pg. Hj Mohammad,
Managing Director of BSM, presented the Long Service for BSM
employees.
Mr Finlayson praised BLNG and BSM for
excellent years of safety, neither suffering an LTI (Lost Time Injury)
and BLNG passing the 8 million-manhour milestone, where he highlighted
that safety is their top priority.
He also revealed that in 2002, they
have continued to grow the business in sustainable manner, 'with oil
production at 201,000 bbl/d, was 4% higher than 2001, and has grown
some 25% in the last five years. And BLNG's output, at 203.5 cargoes
was an all time record'.
He said the companies' ability to
respond to Japan's urgent request for additional gas following the
unplanned shutdown of a number of Nuclear Power Stations, despite the
commissioning of the new Onshore compression plant and the new East
gas pipeline that will serve Brunei for the next 30 years. This was an
outstanding achievement, he said.
