More than 15,000 people from all walks of life are to take part
in the mass gathering marking the 19th National Day this Sunday,

Besides the ceremonial parade,
the traditional gathering will be accentuated by a number of
field performances by school children.
Performances will include a
rendition of patriotic songs.
The participants have undergone
rehearsals to ensure the day's programme will run smoothly.
During the rehearsals, participants are required to focus their
attention on doing their best for the big event.
The Permanent Secretary at the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Awang Haji
Dani explained that a number of side events will be conducted by
the Ministry and various departments under it. He said that the
Ministry will organise a cultural fiesta and a courtesy
campaign.

Literature Bureau plans to hold a poem and theatre festival,
while the Brunei Museums
Department will conduct a

The theme of this year's
National Day celebration is "Bangsa Berilmu Negara Maju",
which underlines an ambitious desire to create educated

paraded at this Sunday's gathering will invoke a clear picture
of the country's ambition in line with the theme.
