The new jetty in Kampong Kiulap
has provided much convenience for those who wish to travel to
Kampong Kiulap for their shopping needs. The jetty is located
along the Gadong River bank, a short distance away from shopping
centres in Kiulap.
The jetty is a convenient
waiting area for the country's ever-popular water-taxis. It also
acts as a link for those living in Kampong Ayer who wish to do
their shopping.
The jetty has been in operation
for over three months now. And, water-taxi operators are happy,
as it has helped them provide 'more extra value services' for
its passengers especially tourists.
"This new jetty enables
visitors to experience a much farther boat ride - after touring
around the Water Village," they explained.
In Brunei Darussalam, the Water
Village is definitely a must-see. It has been described by
previous European tourists as the 'Venice of the East'. Visitors
continue to be fascinated by these traditional and historical
houses on stilts, which span into the greater parts of the
Brunei River.
The Kiulap jetty also acts as a
shortcut for some who wish to avoid the heavy traffic during the
peak hours of the day.
