Swiss tourists enjoying their last night in Brunei.
Swiss tourists who arrived last
Monday night are scheduled to leave Brunei this morning, after a
fun filled 3-day holiday in the rainforest, the Jame' Asr mosque
in Kiulap and other spots.
Eva Schlagenhauf, a travel
agent with the American Express, related how peaceful Brunei is
and she was intrigued with the natural wonders of the nation.
She was also impressed with Brunei's Empire Hotel and Country
Club. It is one of the most beautiful hotels she had ever seen,
she said.
A Swiss TV personality, Peter
Achten who works with the Swiss National Public Radio and is
also an Asia correspondent based in Beijing, said this visit is
not his first here. He has attended the Apec summit and other
conferences in the past. "Brunei is a unique country and I
see a bright future for the nation," he said.
Also with the group during
their last night in Brunei were Daniel Woker, the Swiss
ambassador to Singapore who was in the country on an official
visit, Hj Shazali Sulaiman, the honourary consul of Switzerland
to Brunei and Sheikh Jamaluddin the Director of Brunei Tourism.
The Swiss tourists were the
first European group to tour the nation this year .
A combined effort by the
Industrial Promotion and Tourism Development Division, Empire
Hotel and Country Club as well as Royal Brunei Airlines is part
of a promotional strategy to attract more visitors to come into
the nation.
