His Majesty the Sultan has
consented to the establishment of the fundraising committee for
the Muslim people of Cambodia to give money or materials to ease
their hardships in their everyday lives.
The committee would provide
Mushaf Al-Quran and holy books as to enhance the Cambodian
Muslims' knowledge in Islam.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adam
bin Haji Ahmad, the Director of Da'wah Islamiah Centre, is the
chairman of the Secretariat Committee Fund for the Muslim People
in Cambodia.
The fund raising began
yesterday and welcomed contributions from February 19 until the
end of December this year.
The first contributor was the
Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB). Dato Paduka Haji Junaidi bin
Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Hashim, the
Managing Director of TAIB, presented the contribution to Dato
Seri Setia Awang Haji Adam bin Haji Ahmad, the Director of
Dakwah Islamiah Centre.
TAIB presented a donation which
amounted to $5000. It was made up of Kain Pelikat, 200 pieces,
Telekong, 250 pieces and Kain Sejadah, 120 pieces. All the staff
members of TAIB presented 23 boxes of used clothes for children
and adults.
The members of the committee
are comprised of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of
Education, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious
Affairs, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth
and Sports, representative from the Mufti government department,
representative from the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Islamic
Religious Council of Brunei, representative from the Brunei
Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Managing Director of Bank Islamic Bank
of Brunei Berhad, Managing Director of Islamic Development Bank
of Brunei Berhad, Managing Director of Tabung Amanah Islam
Brunei, representative from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah, representative from the Royal Brunei Airlines,
representative from the Data Stream Technology Sendirian Berhad
and representative from Radio Television Brunei.
The committee has organised its
action plan in sending memos to departments, ministries,
associations, business companies and individuals.
It will raise funds for the
Muslims people of Cambodia at mosques, religious halls,
surau-surau, every department throughout the country that
includes DST, Brunei LNG and BSP, education institutes, Radio
Television Brunei programme and other appropriate activities.

sent to Secretariat, Dakwah Islamiah Centre, Ministry of
Religious Affairs, Kampong Pulaie, Bandar Seri Begawan. Moreover
