Brunei's Six Digit Phone Numbers Take On Another Digit

Seria - The new 7-digits system will replace Brunei's current 6-digit telephone number as from February 22. Telecoms Director Awang Buntar held a briefing on the new numbering system in the Belait District yesterday.

He said the new numbering system is aimed at upgrading the nations telephone numbering system in order to meet high capacity demands and to provide for the complex need of the future.

The new feature is also more flexible in providing network for new services in the competitive info-communication and telecommunication era.

The new 7-digits system will be only be used by adding the code area number in front of the existing number.
