Brunei Police Make
Arrests Curbing Crime

Begawan - The police has made a number of arrests in curbing
crime from the month of January to the second week of February this
year.
Many arrests were made near Berakas
and Bandar Seri Begawan areas.
As the result of the arrests, the
police have successfully solved 13 cases of car thefts, 29 cases of
house break-ins and burglaries in Bandar Seri Begawan, Berakas and
Sengkurong areas.
According to the police, with the
arrest, they have solved four criminal cases for the year 2001, 21
cases for 2002 and 17 cases for the current year.
During that period, 13 Bruneians and
two foreign nationals were arrested and brought before the court and
were found guilty as charged.
The success of these operations was
due to public cooperation providing relevant information to the police
force.
The police also succeeded in
conduction 11 raids on gambling premises around the country that
resulted in the arrest of 30 Bruneians and foreign nationals.
In cases involving prostitutions, the
police have arrested six foreign nationals in two separate raids.
Meanwhile, police have asked for the
public cooperation in curbing crime in the sultanate by helping to
facilitate police in various aspects of identification and prevention
of crimes.
