Two students did Chung Hwa Middle School proud in the GCE 'O'
Level examinations. Results were released a day before the eve
of Chinese New Year. Elizabeth Foo Wen Wei and Lee Eng Hong
passed with flying colours. Both of them obtained 9 A's in the
nine subjects they sat for.
It did not come as surprise to
the school as both girls were very hardworking and were
considered to be the cream of the school.
Being students of the science
stream, they paid undivided attention in class and were very
inquisitive.
At the moment, Elizabeth Foo is
pursuing her further studies in the National Junior College
under the Asean scholarship. As for Lee Eng Hong, she has been
accepted into the Hua Zhong Junior College. The success of these
two students were not a product of burning the midnight oil at
last moment but it had been the harvest of an ongoing process as
both the students had their priorities set long before they sat
for the exam.
Apart from Foo and Lee, Chen Su
Chan got 9 "O" Level passes with 7 distinctions, while
Sindiya Gunarathinarajah got 8 "O" Level passes with 6
distinctions. From the 5,313 candidates sitting for the 'O'
Level examination the year, 3,302 or 62.15 per cent achieved 3
to 10 'O' Level passes. While 369 candidates achieved 8, 9 and
10 'O' Level passes.
According the statistics, the
overall results of this year have shown great improvement in
respect to its quality.
