A repeat drug abuser lost his
appeal to reduce a concurrent 3-year imprisonment sentence for
consuming Methylamphetamine, a class A controlled drug.
Ratino Abd Wahab was convicted
after a trial on August 12, 2002 where he admitted to the facts
and agreed to five analyst certificates stating that his urine
sample taken by the NCB contained traces of Methylamphetamine
and another one prepared by Safaah Iljas.
He also had one previous
conviction under section 6 (b) of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA)
Cap.27 where he was sentenced to 3 months' imprisonment for
failing to pay a $1,500 fine.
