Eight Cows And One Goat Sacrificed

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Communications Ministry and departments under it held a Korban ceremony in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidil Adha yesterday.

Present was the Communications Minister Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria.

Eight cows and one goat were slaughtered during the ceremony.

This year's Korban ceremony was organised by the Land Transport Department.

The religious ritual commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's near sacrifice of his only son, Ismail to prove his obedience to Allah the Almighty. But the charge was spared and Ibrahim was blessed when Allah sent a lamb to be sacrificed in Ismail's place.

Hari Raya Aidil Adha or feast of the sacrifice has become a tradition for Muslims around the world.

Hari Raya Aidil Adha is the time for thanking Allah the Almighty for his blessings and giving alms to the less fortunate people.
