Smoke fills up the roomful of curtain materials
A fire broke out in a curtain
and carpet shop in Kiulap shortly before 8 last night.
The fire was put off after five
minutes.
Witnesses said smoke was seen
coming out from the Apollo Curtains and Carpet Company at
Bangunan Hj Awang Matusin H.A Dan Adik Beradik in Kg Kiulap.
Nobody was in the shop, which
was closed for the night.
Firemen had to break the glass
door of the shop to get at the source of the fire.
A staff from an adjoining unit
put off the main electrical switch while waiting for the firemen
to arrive, it was learned.
Three fire engines from the
Bandar Seri Begawan and the Berakas Fire Stations responded to
the emergency call received at 7:50 pm by the Fire Control
Centre 995.
The Fire Department is
investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of damage.
