Victims Of Natural Disasters Get Help

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Islamic Religious Council yesterday handed out contributions to the recent fire victims of Kampong Subok and Kampong Lambak Kiri as well as to a family from Kampong Setia Pahlawan who suffered losses after the roof of their home blew off during a storm recently.

The Acting Secretary of Brunei Religious Council Awang Haji Abdul Wahab presented the contributions at the Religious Affairs Ministry in Berakas.

The recipients included Awang Ahad bin Haji Tahan who received $1,000. The money will be used to buy new roof for their home.

The other recipient was Dayang Damit binti Timbang who received $4,400 and school utensils. She and 22 members of her family lost their home at a recent fire at the Landless and Indigenous Housing Scheme of Kampong Lambak Kiri.

The religious council also donated $2,600 to Awang Japar and 13 members of his family who lost their home in another fire in Kampong Subok.

Dayang Bunga binti Matussin who lived next to the home of Awang Japar received a donation of $1,200. She also lost her home in a fire.
