Dyg Damit binti Timbang (R) receives the donation from the
Islamic Religious Council
The Islamic Religious Council
has continuously tried to ease the burden and give their utmost
assistance to those who are in need, such as the fire victims,
with the Zakat Monetary Collection.
This was stated by Awang Haji
Abdul Wahab bin Haji Sapar, Acting Secretary of the Islamic
Religious Council during the donation presentation ceremony for
the fire victims, at the Islamic Religious Council Headquarters,
Jalan Menteri Besar, yesterday afternoon.
The Acting Secretary presented
donations to four victims. The first recipient was Awang Ahad
Haji Taha with four dependants, who had lost their house roof to
a strong wind recently. He received $1,000 and assistance in
roof maintenance.
The next recipients were two
families from Kg Subok where both their houses were destroyed by
fire. Dayang Bunga binti Matussin with six dependants received
$1,200 as well as stationary, while Awang Ghafar bin Tussin with
a total of 13 dependants received $2,600 and stationary for his
children.
Awang Ghafar and family thanked
those who have given them donations and support.
The last recipient was a fire
victim from the STKRJ, Kampung Lambak Kiri, Dayang Damit binti
Timbang with four families and 23 dependants. Their house was
destroyed by fire this early February and received $4,400 as
well as stationary for the children.
Awang Said bin Chuchu, son of
Dayang Damit said they were very grateful for the donations in
term of food, clothing and money from various sectors and
individuals. He hoped their house would be rebuild at the fire
site because the land is granted to them.
All fire victims are currently
staying with relatives on temporary basis.
They hope that the relevant
authorities could speed up the settlement or rebuild their
houses.
