Pizza Hut outlets lost some business due to problems of
telecommunication
Some customers were deprived of
sumptuous Italian snacks in their homes last Sunday when they
failed to reach the hotline number of Pizza Hut.
This is presumably due to tests
done by the Telecommunication Department (JTB) on the
seven-digit phone number system.
These people were disappointed
as their calls could not get through. In desperation, they even
tried calling the Pizza Hut offices, which were closed on
Sunday.
The matter was only made known
to the management yesterday, when customers called the offices
during working hours after they were still unable to call the
hotline number.
Christine Carsons, Marketing
Manager of Pizza Hut, frantically asked for explanations from
JTB officials who seemed to be in the dark about the alleged
7-digit number testing.
Officials, she said could not
provide an answer as to why certain lines cannot be reached,
unless an extra digit is added to the existing hotline telephone
number.
"Officials said they were
not aware of testing being done on the 7-digit phone number
system.
"They promised to
investigate the matter as to why our Pizza Hut delivery hotline
226111 cannot be reached unless a 2 is added to the
number," she said.
The new 7-digit telephone
numbers will only be officially launched on March 22. However,
it is believed that JTB is currently testing the 7-digit
numbering system on various phone lines in several areas.
For Pizza Hut, the inability of
customers to contact their delivery order number means they lost
some business.
"We were hoping we could
be informed of any testing earlier so we can make preparation to
inform our customers.
"The incident had
definitely affected our business," she said.
She advised all Pizza Hut
customers to try both numbers 226111 or 2226111, as some areas
could still call the six-digit hotline number.
