The Mulaut Abattoir reminds the public who have booked animals
for the Feast of Sacrifice to cooperate by coming earlier
according to their number to ensure the event will go smoothly
as planned, RTB reported yesterday.
The Mulaut Abattoir will be
slaughtering animals on the 10th till 13th of Zulhijjah 1423
corresponding to Feb. 12 and 13.
As the Hari Raya Aidil Adha or
Korban is just a couple of days away, the slaughtering centre
has already made its preparation earlier.
It received applications since
Jan. 20.
Until yesterday, 320 buffaloes
and cows have been booked to be slaughtered for this year's
feast, compared to 434 last year.
The centre said because of
encouraging demands for goats from other Muslim countries, the
number of animals brought to Brunei has been limited.
The centre only received 395
and they are already booked. The centre has to reject many
applications. Last year, 520 goats were also sacrificed,
including those sold alive.
For the second year, a local
company has brought in camels for the feast. Because the animal
is still new in the market, 30 camels have been slaughtered.
This year, the company has
received booking for 1,245 cows, buffaloes, camels and goats.
The sacrifice is not a
compulsory religious duty for everyone, but considered an
obligation for those who can afford it.
According to the State Mufti's
fatwa, no one should perform the sacrifice for someone else
without their explicit approval, except for the head of a
household performing the sacrifice for his family members and
custodians performing the sacrifice for children under their
care.
They can make the sacrifice
from his or her own expenses. And rulers can make the sacrifice
for Muslims from the Baitulmal Fund.
The rewards from Allah for the
good deeds can also be offered for deceased parents and family
members.
