Sundowners Stretch A Leg For Tiger
Shows Across The Border
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Some local 'sundowners' are said to be making a
beeline to what is commonly known as "Tiger Shows" - as they
can just cross the border at Kuala Lurah and walk a few metres to
Tedungan in Limbang to see such tantalising performances.
According to sources, said they were
offered to see such shows for a fee of around RM$50 per person.
Some border-crossers usually flocked
to Tedungan for a tipple as the sun set in, in time for them to return
to Brunei Darussalam before the immigration control post closed at
around 10 pm.
Armed with passports, they just need
to walk to cross both Brunei and Sarawak immigration control posts
before arriving at their favourite bars and cafés on the other side
of the border.
The place has been booming in recent
years as sundowners - mostly non-Muslims - swarm the area in the
evening in search of entertainment after a hard day's work.
Sundowners from Brunei preferred to
walk to Tedungan from the border rather than drive their vehicles for
another hour to reach Limbang. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
