Brunei Investment Agency Chairman
Replaced

Begawan - His Majesty Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei has
appointed a new man to head Brunei Investment Agency (BIA), which
controls the sultanate's vast investments abroad.
He is Pehin Dato Awang Haji Yahya a
key man in the Brunei administration and a Permanent Secretary at the
Prime Minister's Office.
He will also now relinquish the
Chairmanship of Royal Brunei Airlines Board of Directors and its
subsidiaries.
As the new acting BIA head he
replaces Dato Haji Yakub bin Abu Bakar. Dato Haji Yakub, the deputy
Finance Minister was BIA Chairman up to Saturday.
The Prime Minister's Office press
release said yesterday:
"By command of His Majesty
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum
Sultan Haji Omar Ali Safuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Prime Minister's Office hereby
announces that His Majesty has consented to the appointment of Yang
Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji
Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar as the Acting Chairman
of the Brunei Investment Agency in addition to his appointment as the
Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office to replace Yang
Mulia Dato Paduka Haji Yakub bin Abu Bakar from Saturday 6th Zulhijah
1423 corresponding to 8th February 2003.
With the appointment, of Yang
Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji
Yahya will no longer hold any position or duties as Chairman of the
Royal Brunei Airlines Pte Ltd and its subsidiary companies such as the
Royal Brunei Catering Pte Ltd; Mulaut Abattoir Pte Ltd; RBA Golf Club
Pte Ltd and other with from the above date."
