Mother Refuses To Be Son's Bailer
By Rol Ezam

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 22-year-old Bruneian had to go to Jerudong remand prison when his mother refused to be his bailer in the Brunei Magistrates Court yesterday.

The court granted Jeridin bin Minggas bail pending trial but despite that his mother who was in court declined to stand bail.

He begged and cried for him to be freed but the mother remained unmoved because of his five previous convictions and that he had never learnt from his mistakes.

Jeridin appeared in court before Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri DSP Hj Abidin to face three theft charges. He pleaded guilty to committing theft of a Sony radio cassette player belongs to Slamet Riyadi.

A Police Prosecuting Officer said that Jeridin committed the offence on January 28 at the underground parking lot of Abdul Razak Building.

However, Jeridin pleaded not guilty to stealing a Toyota Corolla space wagon belonging to Hj Mohamed Hj Besar, a week ago from Kg Panchor in Lumapas.

He also denied stealing 11 keys and $5 note at the same place and date when he stole the cassette player.

The prosecution will call seven witnesses for the trial on June 5. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
