Mother Refuses To Be Son's Bailer

Begawan - A 22-year-old Bruneian had to go to Jerudong remand
prison when his mother refused to be his bailer in the Brunei
Magistrates Court yesterday.
The court granted Jeridin bin Minggas
bail pending trial but despite that his mother who was in court
declined to stand bail.
He begged and cried for him to be
freed but the mother remained unmoved because of his five previous
convictions and that he had never learnt from his mistakes.
Jeridin appeared in court before
Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri DSP Hj Abidin to face three theft
charges. He pleaded guilty to committing theft of a Sony radio
cassette player belongs to Slamet Riyadi.
A Police Prosecuting Officer said
that Jeridin committed the offence on January 28 at the underground
parking lot of Abdul Razak Building.
However, Jeridin pleaded not guilty
to stealing a Toyota Corolla space wagon belonging to Hj Mohamed Hj
Besar, a week ago from Kg Panchor in Lumapas.
He also denied stealing 11 keys and
$5 note at the same place and date when he stole the cassette player.
The prosecution will call seven
