Indiscriminate dumping down to attitudes

The indiscriminate dumping of waste and garbage has become an ongoing problem in the country despite efforts by various parties including RTB in reporting the matter yesterday.

One such site can be found in Kampong Tanjong Nangka. Located strategically on the hilltop about a kilometre from the main road, the area was once an open space until some irresponsible persons decided to make it their dumping area.

Mountains of garbage from domestic to industrial waste were dumped there. To make things worse, rodents apparently made the area their home, which thereby poses a health hazard for the people living in the immediate vicinity.

Judging from the situation, one might wonder who is to be blamed for this problem. The only conclusion that may be drawn is that some of our people still live with the motto, “Malas Tah Ku Ingau”, a local cliché which means, “I couldn’t care less”.
