Some 20,000 miniature national flags and posters will be
distributed in the three districts simultaneously soon after the
flag hoisting ceremony held to mark the 19th National Day
celebrations this year, RTB reported yesterday.
The final rehearsal of the flag
hoisting ceremony was held yesterday morning. Nearly 60
participants are expected to take part in the ceremony involving
school students, Brunei Government staff, uniformed bodies,
non-government organisations, the private sector as well as
several army personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy.
Among those present to watch
the final rehearsal was the Minister of Culture, Youth and
Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Paduka
(Dr.) Hj Awg Hussein. One of the main highlights to mark the
19th National Day is a mass convoy of motor vehicles carrying
the national flag.
The mass convoy will depart
from the capital soon after the flag hoisting ceremony, before
making its way to Tutong and Belait Districts in a gesture of
goodwill. Meanwhile in the Temburong District, a mass convoy of
out-boats are expected to fly national flags from the capital to
Temburong via the waterways.
