Flag raising rehearsal in full swing
To ensure the smooth running of
the KB flag raising ceremony this Sunday, a full dress rehearsal
was conducted at the MCK Recreational Park in Kuala Belait
yesterday morning. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with
Brunei Darussalam’s national day, which falls on February 23.
Present at the rehearsal
yesterday was Awg Adanan bin Hj Hanafiah, Belait District’s
Officer, and Awang Abd Majid bin Alias, the Chairman of Kuala
Belait and Seria Municipal Board.
While being escorted from Mukim
Sungai Liang by 19 motorcycles of the KB Royal Brunei Police
Force, Awg Ali bin Hj Mat Yassin, the Assistant District
Officer, will take part in a handover ceremony, where the flag
would have made its journey from Bandar Seri Begawan.
The number of motorcycles marks
the number of years Brunei Darussalam has been independent.
Brunei first celebrated its
National Day in 1984.
The flag would then be raised
at the MCK Recreational Park, which will be followed by the
national anthem.
A choir of 100 students from Pg
Jaya Negara Pg Hj Abu Bakar Secondary School Mumong, Perdana
Wazir Secondary School, Sayyidina Ali School and Jefri Bolkiah
Engineering College, would then perform songs.
Road users are cautioned that a
few roads leading towards the park and KB town would be closed
temporarily.
