The Director of Civil Aviation yesterday issued a press release
confirming that the air-conditioning at the Brunei International
Airport is in full operation since January 12, 2002.
The full text of the press
release reads:
“In response to the article
published on the front page of the Borneo Bulletin dated 6th
February 2003 issue written by Ignatius Stephen, the Department
of Civil Aviation would like to make the following comments:-
“New chiller for the
air-conditioning system at Brunei international Airport was
installed on 12th January 2003 and was in full operation on the
very day. Airport users including shops, offices, passengers and
public are able to experience the comfort of the
air-conditioners since then.
“Since the replacement of the
chiller at the Terminal Complex of Brunei International Airport,
air-conditioning system is now all in operation.
“The Department of Civil
Aviation has been in close coordination with the Department of
Electrical Services to continue improving and upgrading the
air-conditioning system at the Terminal Complex of Brunei
International Airport.
“The Department of Civil
Aviation wishes to record its regret on the remarks made on the
front page which read “Works only when ministers drop by”,
“Lack of coordination between Department of Civil Aviation and
Department of Electrical Services” and also “Lack of
cooperation among the departments”.
“In future, should there be
any queries with regard to complaints, please do not hesitate to
contact the Director of Civil Aviation for clarification.”
