By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri sent a 31-year-old Bangladeshi to six months in jail when he pleaded guilty to remaining unlawfully in Brunei for four years and four months.

Md Selim Miah Md Hussan Ali was arrested when he failed to produce his passport to Immigration Enforcement Officers who were conducting an inspection on a construction site in Jln Mulaut where he was found working.

He was brought for investigations and was later revealed by Immigration Prosecuting Officer Hj Ansamawi Hj Tengah that Md Selim's employment pass had been cancelled on June 8, 1998 and he was supposed to go back to his hometown.

However, his employment pas was extended to July 20, 1998 as he failed to return home on June 10, 1998. He had been remaining unlawfully ever since. (Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin)
