Five police cadets from St
Andrew’s School who excelled in various categories were
awarded for their performances yesterday, at the school’s
hall. They were awarded for; being the best cadet during drills;
best squad leader; and overall best cadet.
“It is hoped that the spirit
of success will inspire them to continue participating in ECA or
outside activities, which could set an example for other
cadets,” said the guest of honour cum Commander of Pusat
Latihan Polis Diraja Brunei, Supt. Pg. Hj. Rakit bin Pg Osman.
“The Ministry of Education
through the Curriculum Department has outside activities like
ECA in every school and college throughout the country, where
students are asked to select activities suitable to their
interest.”
“This is to allow students to
fill their spare time, in addition to expanding their knowledge
in the areas of safety, discipline and instilling patriotism
towards the nation and religion,” added the Commander.
He further reminded students to
inculcate responsibility by bringing in good values such as,
obeying the teachings of parents, being honest, hardworking and
trustworthy.
“This kind of activities
should continue so that there is team spirit and cooperation
among the individuals in promoting good will and sincerity.”
Also present at the event were
Asp. Matnor bin Sarbini, Cadet officers from the Pusat Latihan
Polis Diraja Brunei, Mr Jacob Chin, the Principal of St
Andrew’s, Mr Chong Ah Fok, Miss Jane Keasberry, parents of the
cadets, as well as teachers-in-charge of the cadets.
Police cadets officially formed
in St Andrew’s a year ago, and currently has nearly thirty
students.
