UK royalty tours Jame's Asr

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra and Rt. Hon Sir Angus Ogilvy visited the Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque in Kiulap yesterday morning.

The royalty was greeted upon arrival by Pengiran Haji Yusof bin Pengiran Haji Kula, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Also present to welcome the royal couple were the High Commissioner of United Kingdom to Brunei and his wife, Directors from the Mosque Affairs and the Islamic Dakwah Centre as well as religious officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The visit began with a slide show presentation on the history of Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque by the mosque administration. The architectural masterpiece of Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque was explained by a representative from the Haza Architect.

The royal couple then toured the mosque’s library, prayer rooms and facilities. Throughout the tour, Malai Norain from the Ministry of Religious Affairs briefed the royal couple about the religious programmes and activities conducted by the mosque’s administration.

Princess Alexandra then proceeded to the PAPRSB College of Nursing. There, the principal of the college, Dayang Hjh Suraya Noraidah Abdullah welcomed the royal couple and invited them to a brief presentation on the history of the Nursing College as well as various programmes the college offers and its future plans.

The princess signed the guest book and toured around the college campus.

Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra and Rt. Hon Sir Angus Ogilvy are in the country on a five-day visit.
