Kg Ayer Police Nab Illegal Immigrant

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 51-year-old Malaysian yesterday was to serve a month behind bars if failed to pay an $800 fine imposed by Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri for entering Brunei illegally on January 30.

Kg Ayer Police officers arrested Mohamad Kabig @ Selamat K. K. Omar near Kg Menunggol when he failed to produce his passport for them, according to the statement of facts tendered before the court by Immigrations Prosecuting Officer Hj Ansamawi Hj Tengah.

The case was later handed over to the Immigrations Enforcement Division on February 3 for further investigations.

Mohamad Kabig admitted in his statement to entering Brunei from neighbouring Limbang to visit his relatives here by water taxi omitting to report himself at checkpoint as he did not have a proper passport
