Lim Ren Chong scored 9 A1’s and 1 B3 for his ‘O’ Level
examination
Bruneian Lim Ren Chong achieved
outstanding results in the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination 2002.
Lim from the Paduka Seri Begawan Science College, scored 9
A1’s and 1 B3 for his ‘O’ Level examination.
For the past years, Bruneian
students have achieved excellent results in the Brunei Cambridge
GCE Examinations. From the statement released by the Department
of Examinations, a total of 369 candidates got eight and nine
‘O’ Level passes this year.
Lim is the first student to
achieve 10 ‘O’ Level passes in Brunei Darussalam. He got A1
in English Language, Geography, History, Mathematics ‘D’,
Additional Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer
Studies as well as a B in Malay Language.
The Deputy Principal of Science
College, Pg Hjh Rosnani binti Pg Hj Jeludin described him as an
all rounder student.
“Lim has been excellent in
his academics and represents the college in all activities and
forums.
“We were optimistic and
always supported him when he took the 10 subjects for the
‘O’ Level Examination,” the Principal stated.
Lim said that the key of
success was to keep focussed on their studies and preserve the
importance of time management.
Being a PC gamers and fantasy
books addict himself, he said that nonsense and unnecessary
activity such as smoking, drugs and love at high school, could
distract a student’s focus on their studies.
Concentration in the classroom
and revision at home is essential for success.
While in Form 4, he was
selected to represent Brunei for the High School Students
Exchange Programme for Japan and Asean.
He has won the Level III
category for the Inforama 2001 & 2002 Competition. This
level included K@ICT ideas, project, skills and IBM@ school -
Image Building and Marketing of School.
In cultural events, he is an
active participant in the college’s Gulingtangan team, in
which the Science College won the Inter-schools Gulingtangan
Competition for the year 2002.
He was also the runner-up for
the Explore Math Competition 2002. Apart from soccer as a hobby,
he spends his free time learning more about Cosmology, Astronomy
and the Japanese Language.
Delighted with his success, Lim
thanked his family especially his father for his continuous
support.
He thanked the college
administration, teachers especially Cikgu Saadiah the ex-deputy
principal and Mr. Lam for their valuable advise.
He urged his fellow students to
strive towards excellent at what they are good at, to have
patience and never give up.
