District's Uniqueness Main

- Temburong may not have five-star hotels or shopping malls,
but what it can offer to the public was its originality (keaslian),
tranquillity, pristine rainforest and peaceful surrounding which
made up the uniqueness (assets) of the Temburong District.

"In short it
was the place to be for those looking for whole different
set of experience," said Temburong acting district officer,
Matusin Orang Kaya Sura Hj Tuba, at the 'tug of war'
competition organised in conjunction with `cuti-cuti
Temburong at the Batu Apoi Stadium which was officially
launched on December 5.
Yesterday's event was one
of the highlights of the holiday programme, as the sport was
a favourite among the community.
A continuation of last
year's programme "Cuti-cuti Temburong' for the year 2009
will be featured in a different concept, which will showcase
the "asset" of Temburong District, the officer said.

He also spoke of his
office plans for next year's "Cuti-cuti Temburong" which
includes "Pesta Etnik SeBorneo", Bukit Patoi Challenge;
and more ecco-tourism related activities. |
"This is the District Office's
plans in promoting ecotourism in Brunei," he added. Matusin urged
the Temburong community to step up and to continue their effort in
promoting Temburong as one of the country's tourist hotspot.
He said this is where Temburong
community, its leaders and youth playa role in contributing to the
district. "Learn, venture out of the district to gain experiences
and adapt the (best practices) to the needs of the district", he
said.
According to the acting district
officer, the public response to "Cuti-cuti Temburong" has been good
with the public joined in the activities such as cultural
performances by the local community.
The programme also provides
opportunities to local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from
Temburong and other districts to showcase their products. The
activities lined up gets better with "Temburong exploration"
scheduled on December 21.
Temburong exploration will bring
participants to six different villages in the district, which
included Kg Senukoh, Kg Labu estate, Kg Belais, Kg Buda-Buda, Kg Amo
and Kg Sibut.
Upon arrival at the meeting point (Bumiputera
complex) in Bangar Town at 8am, participants will be ferried to Kg
Senukoh, the first destination in the exploration where they will be
given the chance to observe and experience for themselves the
various traditional and cultural activities.
Transport will be provided for the
exploration in Temburong, however participants have to arrange their
own transport to Temburong. Those who are interested can contact the
Temburong District Office at 5221265.
