Philippine Special Students
Delegation In Town
By RDN
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A group of eight visually-impaired students of the
Philippines National School for the Blind, who will be performing in
a charity event to mark World Disability Day this weekend, has
arrived in the country.
An official from the Philippines
Embassy and a member of the Brunei Darussalam Association of the
Blind were at the airport to welcome these special students, aged
between 13 and 25, and their principal Fortaleza Mtresvalles.
Also accompanying these talented
special students were their special education teachers, Cornzon B
Salvador, Gloria G Jamandra and Rosalie R Condes.
"This will be the first time the
group is performing abroad. It is hoped that their participation in
the event will create awareness for local organisations to see what
other special schools outside Brunei Darussalam are doing."
At the gala night at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas this weekend, the special
students will be performing several folk dances, which include the
Philippines folk dance `Tinikling', 'Sayaw Sa Bangko' and `Maglalatik',
as well as instrumental and vocal solo renditions.
There will also be exciting
performances by local artists as well as special performances from
the Brunei Darussalam's very own special needs communities.
Individual tickets and
table-bookings for the gala night concert are still available. For
further enquiries, contact Norali at 8891591, Elyas (8126767)_ or
Hjh Hasnah (8682525).
