Safety Is Top Priority At BSP
By Azaraimy HH
Kuala Belait
- Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) is organising
a "Safety Takes Priority Week" to highlight occupational hazards
related to working with electricity and showcase precautions during
electrical activities.
Dr Grahaeme Henderson, BSP Managing
Director, who launched the event, said, "Safety is our top priority.
"To date, Brunei Shell Petroleum,
as a world class and dynamic company, has achieved an outstanding
safety performance. We must remember that safety is the foundation
for improved performance in other areas of the business as well."
"This impressive result is viewed
from the increasing number of man-hours in BSP's operations, which
increase exposure and posing more challenges on safety.
"We must not rest on our laurels.
Everyone must ensure that complacency does not creep-in and that we
strictly adhere to our three key safety principles of Compliance,
Intervention and Attitude, in all our routine and non-routine
activities. As a saying goes – alone we can do so little, together
we can do so much."
To create safety awareness, an
exhibition on `Working with Electricity' theme is put up till Friday
from Sam to 4pm at BSRC.
It includes compliance electrical
tools and safety - related tools. Twelve primary schools from Belait
district have been scheduled to visit the safety exhibition.
BSP will organise a safety forum
for its staff and contractors for them to discuss wide-ranging
safety issues and ways to improve the safety performance and a
safety visit to work sites by the BSP and contractors management
team.
