Water Services Dept On SMS Alert

Begawan - In a move to get to the public attention in a fast
and unmistakable way, the Water Services Department has started
sending SMS to inform the public or a looming four-day water cut.
The Water Services Department has
gone all out in using the communication tool, the most popular short
message service (SMS) to advise the public in advance about the
disruption.
Observers lauded the move and
advanced advisor made by the Department through the DST Care
services. The SMS were distributed about a week from the date of
planned disruption which could give ample time for residents to
stock their water supply. The Water Services stated that water
disruption could take three to four days beginning from December 5.
2007.
The affected areas are Berakas,
Berakas camp, Lambak Kiri and Lambak Kanan, Madang, Manggis 1,
Manggis 2, Pekan Muara, Serasa, Phase 5 of Rimba housing area.
For further inquiries, the public
are advised to call Hotline 140.
Authoritative staff of the Water
Services Department when contacted yesterday told Weekend that
further information about the disruption will he announced today
