Health Ministry Issues Warning

Begawan - The Ministry of Health has issued a public
reminder, especially those that have been affected by floods to
undertake measures in order to avoid any accidents or the risk of
spreading water and food-borne diseases such as cholera and
diarrhoea.
Following the heavy rains that hit
the country, the Ministry of Health issued an advisory on the
necessary precautionary steps that should be taken, including:
- Ensuring that water supply is
clean and uncontaminated.
- Ensuring that drinking water
has been boiled.
- Cooking food thoroughly.
- Prioritising
self cleanliness especially while cleaning hands with clean
water before preparing or serving food and after using the
washroom.
- Keeping the surrounding
environment clean and avoid littering.
- Seeking treatment when
experiencing symptoms such as flu, cough, stomachache or
diarrhoea, skin irritation, vomiting, dizziness, etc.
- Prioritising
safety especially children so that they are not exposed to flood
water to prevent any accidents such as drowning, injury or any
infectious diseases.
Hospitals and health centres
throughout the country will be monitoring any emergence of diseases
that were caused by flooding in various places, including rural
areas.
Brunei Darussalam's Meteorological
Services have forecast heavy rains until possibly next week which
have brought about flooding and landslides.
