Landslide Unearths Safety Concern
By James Kon & Za'im Zaini
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Families who are currently constructing their dream
home at the new phase of Jalan 60 in Kg Perpindahan Rimba have
expressed their concerns following a recent landslide that has
affected the area close to where the houses are being built.
The landslide on Wednesday night
was triggered by heavy downpour, sending mud and uprooted trees in
the direction of the construction site.
One woman lamented that she feels
the area is unsafe. Putting her dream house on hold to ensure the
construction workers would not be at risk while working in the
current situation. Noraini Hassanuddin, 32, invited the Bulletin to
inspect the affected site.
Like a few others, she fears her
house - which is still under construction would be damaged.
She expressed her concerns over the
safety of the area and the possibility of another landslide,
especially during this rainy season. She also highlighted that the
delay in construction work could result in an incurrence of a higher
cost to build her dream home. She urges the relevant authorities to
look into the matter. -- Courtesy of Borneo
