Imams Salute Police
By Azrol Azmi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - As the Royal Brunei Police Force buckles up to
celebrate its 861 Anniversary in 2007, the Imams yesterday urged
people to extend their unbridled support to the members of the long
arm of the law.
The Imams in their Friday Sermon
lauded the police for their selfless duties and responsibilities in
ensuring the Sultanate's peace and stability.
"Brunei Darussalam is a peaceful
and prosperous country free from disorder and disturbances. The
police continue to ensure the peace as they have done down the
years," said the Imams during Friday Noon Mass Prayer.
The Imams urged the community to
help support the Royal Brunei Police Force in curbing crime and
unwanted activities while safeguarding the nation's security. They
went on to say that the Royal Brunei Police Force has been the main
enforcer of laws ever since 1921. They will celebrate their 86th
anniversary in the upcoming New Year 2007.
"The Royal Brunei Police Force are
called upon to face many challenges in conducting their day to day
duties and responsibilities as well as maintaining law and order and
safety of the citizenry,' the Imams said.
They pointed out that the police
shoulder a great responsibility in ensuring the security of the
nation and police personnel are exposed to various situations that
are often risky and dangerous.
"Few have suffered while performing
their duties and they are indeed worthy of appreciation," said the
Imams.
The Royal Brunei Police Force
Anniversary provides an ideal opportunity for the people to reflect
upon their valuable service to the nation and achievements. Imams
urged the nation to express their gratitude and appreciation to the
contributions and efforts made by the Royal Brunei Police Force.
Islam encourages the community to
live helping each other towards mutual harmony and goodwill and thus
creating respect and love towards one another, the Imams added. Such
behaviour and demeanour will invariably help usher in a harmonious
society as well as a unified Islamic community.
Hopefully, a peaceful environment
in the country will also help the police maintain and enhance safety
and national security.
The Imams reminded the public to be
civic conscious by reporting any untoward activities and crime to
the police for necessary action.
. The imams called on the people to
uphold the good image of the police as they are recognised for the
noble image they portray. Nothing should be done to devalue this
trait or reduce the level of credibility of the force. The Police
should on their part remain forever brave, loyal and just in
performing their duties especially while dealing with law
enforcement and should refrain from the misuse of power or resort to
corruption, they added.-- Courtesy of Borneo
