Prisons And Belait Top Groups

Bandar Seri Begawan - After three weeks of a fierce and evenly contested competition, Prisons Department and Belait District Department scored a perfect record to top their respective groups in the 2006-2007 Ministry of Home Affairs Football Tournament.

Belait District Department lead Group A after collecting six points from two wins. Belait District Department also have ahealthy goal difference knocking in 11 goals and conceded only one.

Immigration and National Registration Department are in second place with four points.

Temburong District Department and Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department are leveled at third place. Both teams collected three points from two games. In Group B, Prisons Department are not short of ammunition either. Prisons Department notched 25 goals and conceded two goals including the 4-1 win against Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department on Wednesday evening. Prisons Department now top the group with nine points.

Trailing three points behind the leader are Brunei and Muara District Department. The joint team of Tutong District Department and Tutong Municipal Department are in third place in the group.

Eleven teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Department. Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the next round. The final will be held on Feb 3. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
