Show 'Hunger' To Win
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - "All players must want to win the game, play their
heart out, give 100 per cent and must run and fight for the ball."
This is the formula Buketa Ranko,
the head coach of Brunei DPMM FC, wants his players to adopt for the
crucial clash against leaders Perlis scheduled for Spin today at the
national stadium.
In order to halt the unbeaten run
of Perlis, he added, "Our tactical discipline must also be
excellent".
DPMM
FC are currently seventh in the Super League standings with four
points, while Perlis lead the table with nine points.
According to Ranko in an interview
at the training ground of DPMM FC yesterday, "Perlis are not one of
the best teams in the Super League. After three games, they've got
100 per cent (wins) and nine points, but I never think about my
opponents. My focus_ is always on my team."
"We play well, but if we played
like the way we played against Selangor FA, we will lose again," he
warned.
Last Saturday evening, DPMM FC
suffered their first defeat in the Super League at the hands of
Selangor FA 2-1 at Shah Alam Stadium
Touching on that game, he noted,
"We have quality and our players' physical level is good. It's just
mental preparation for the players. I don't understand when the game
was on, some players didn't run' and not fight for the ball."
"If we want to win, all players
must run and fight for the game. And if one or two players are not
giving 100 per cent, we will lose." "During our game against
Selangor, if we played 20 per cent more, we could have won the game.
From my observation, Selangor players wanted to win more than our
players, and they took the game," he said
We are a small club and small
country, and we are able to enterthe best league where all the teams
are very good."
"I understand if we played bad and
(it) we have bad days, but I don't understand why some players
didn't- want to run." Speaking about Perlis inform striker Azlan
Ismail. the league's top scorer with four goals, the coach said
besides Azlan, Perlis have a quality strike-force, which DPMM FC's
defence must be wary of - players like Mohd Fauzi Nan and Phillemon
Chepita.
On the team formation, he said,
"Our strategy is always the same, offensive and defensive strategy.
And I will also review all the tapes of the games of Perlis".
On DPMM FC sensational striker,
Fadlin Galawat, the coach is pleased with Fadlin's performance,
especially in scoring two goals in the previous matches. And he
hopes that Fadlin will continue his fine form in tonight's match.-- Courtesy of Borneo
