Bundles Of Joy On Christmas Day

Begawan - December 25, 2006 will always be remembered as an
important date for parents of nine babies born on this Christmas day
in Brunei Darussalam.
As of 4 pm yesterday, a total of
seven babies -four boys and three girls -have been safely delivered
at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha hospital in the capital. One
of the baby girls was born to Dk Rosimah Pg Ahmad from Kg Saba Darat
B. The baby was delivered at 3.15 pm, weighing 3.9 kg. She was Dk
Rosimah's fourth child.
Another proud parent was 31-year
old woman from Kg Tasek Lama. Hafsah Razali, gave birth to her
fourth child, a healthy baby boy weighing 3.1 kg. At the Suri Seri
Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait one newborn baby girl, weighing
3.26 kg was delivered at 3.11 am.
Meanwhile in Tutong district, a
baby girl was born at the Pg Muda Mahkota Pg Muda Hj AlMuhtadee
Billah hospital yesterday afternoon. She tipped the scales at 2 kg.
The number of babies born at the Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam
Hospital in Temburong, was not available.
Based on the statistics provided by
the Economic Planning and Development Department, there has been a
steady increase in the annual birth rate, whereby 3.5 per cent was
recorded in November 2006, compared to 2.9 per cent in 2004. -- Courtesy of
