Sunday Express Apologises To HRH Prince Mohamed

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sunday Express, a leading newspaper published in the United Kingdom in its edition dated December 24, 2006 apologised to His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah for inserting his picture, instead of HRH Prince Jefri Bolkiah in an article published on September 17, 2006.

Following is the full text of the apology in the Sunday Express under the headline "Apology: His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah of Brunei".

"On September 17, 2006, we published an article headed "Let's hear it for royals who waive the rules". The article made reference to His Royal Highness Prince Jefri Bolkiah in derogatory terms.

Unfortunately, the photograph used to illustrate this part of the article was not that of Prince Jefri but that of His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Foreign Minister of Brunei Darussalam.

We recognised that this error may have led readers to believe that Prince Mohamed had acted improperly and immorally. We accept that there is no basis for any such suggestion and we offer our sincere apologies to Prince Mohamed for the distress and embarrassment he has been caused
