Thai Brothers Arrested For Operating Illegal Business

Kuala Belait - Belait Law Enforcement Immigration officials Tuesday arrested two Thai brothers for operating an illegal mobile business within the Belait area -to obtain additional income.

Based on a tip off, the Law Enforcement agency made a surprise inspection on the vehicle, which was at the time carrying out a cash transaction at a Belait rented house occupied by foreign workers.

Both suspects are brothers currently working in the country with a local construction company. In a bid to make extra income, the duo offered their goods to `residents of staff quarters and rented houses in the Belait area.

Investigations are still on going. If convicted, the Thai duo could face a minimum compound fine of $600 under Regulation 15 (2) of Immigration Rule. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
