Brothers Found Safe After Shahbandar Drama
By Mohamed Abdullah

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 23-year-old man and his 15-year-old brother, who went missing after jogging at Bukit Shahbandar yesterday evening, were found after a three-hour search.

Although the tracks along the hill are relatively easy to follow, it is still easy to wander off especially for people who are unfamiliar with the place.

The duo's elder brother told the Bulletin that he was jogging with them earlier. He decided to turn back and told his two brothers to carry on without him. Before making his way back to the foot of the hill, he told them make a turn on the third hill. However, they went missing for quite some time.

Fire and Rescue personnel from the Jerudong Station and the Sengkurong Police arrived at the scene after a distress call was made. An eight-men search and rescue party was formed to find the joggers.

"There is a new track at the fifth hill where joggers frequently get lost. We were afraid that the two brothers may-have went on this track, as this would make the search much longer," said a fire official.

A family member said that this was the first time the two brothers went for a jog at Bukit Shahbandar, adding that the two did not carry any mobile phones. Fortunately, the two were found at around 8.45pm.

Joggers are advised to jog with someone who is familiar with the tracks in Bukit Shahbandar. It is also important to carry a mobile phone when jogging in the area.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
