Meet To Discuss Villagers’ Issues

Begawan - Forty members of the Kg Lumut Consultative Council
yesterday paid a working visit to Bukit Teraja and Mendaram Besar
Rumah Panjang to gain a closer look at the living conditions of
residents in the area, and also to gain an insight into the problems
they faced.
Leading the working visit was Lumut
I Ketua Kampong Hj Mohd Shafiee bin Ahmad, who is also the chairman
of the council.
During the visit, the chairman and
council members met with Ketua Rumah Panjang Bukit Teraj a Jamit
Anak Lasah and Ketua Rumah Panj ang Mendaram Besar Berandi Anak
Jamau.
The visit aimed to enhance
solidarity and collaboration between villagers, allow them to better
understand each other's cultural diversity, and address issues and
problems faced by the villagers.
Today, Rumah Panjang Bukit Teraja
is home to 92 residents. It was built in 1986, and boasted of
minimal facilities. However, thanks to the government, residents of
the long house can today take pleasure in the fact that the place
has running water, electricity supply, telephone lines and access to
a. proper road.
The visit also saw the consultative
council members paying a visit to Ketua Kampong Labi II Village Head
Haji Abdullah bin Haji Idris.
Discussions were held focusing on
issues of electrical problems, poor road conditions, agricultural
problems and land issues. Later, the visiting group made a
recreational visit to popular picnic spot Wasai Wong Kadir. -- Courtesy of Borneo
