Girls Injured After Dog Chase
By Hj Minor Absah

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two girls who were playing near this house in Kg Beribi were slightly hurt when chased by a dog.

The dog belonging to a neighbour came loose and chased after the two girls aged 12 and 13. They were riding on their bicycle at that time. Terrified of the dog, they both ran but in panic they fell into a drain.

Their father, Hj Julaihi bin Pehin Kahtib Hj Md Yussof, who was outside the house quickly shooed the dog away and pulled his daughters out of the drain. One of the daughters suffered cuts on the head and the other one with minor cuts on her leg.

Hj Julaihi told the Bulletin that he confronted the dog owner and received an apology in return. Both his daughters were brought to the hospital where they received stitches for the cuts.

The next day he reported the incident to the police, the Brunei-Muara District Office and also the Municipal Board.

He urged the relevant authorities to help ensure dog owners do not let their dogs loose and unattended.

Even though the dog is licensed, the owner should not have let it out as it can affect the safety of neighbours or any passers-by, he said. Some dogs are said to have also entered house compounds.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
