HSBC Speakers Group Holds Speech
Marathon

Begawan - The HSBC Speakers Group, an affiliate of
Toastmasters International, recently held a Speech Marathon in
Bandar Seri Begawan.
Six club members made speeches from
the Competent Communicator manual. . The participants included
HSBC's Chief Operations Officer, Matthew Martin; the President of
HSBC Speakers Group, John Tse Tow; and members Matthew Yun, Ida
Nazrena Bujang, Jason Rumpun and Amy Lau.
Each speaker had to deliver a
prepared speech lasting between five and ten minutes and was
evaluated on whether their speech was well-structured and used vocal
variety, gestures and language.
Matthew Martin's speech entitled
`What Can I Do?' was his 10`h speech and he also became the first
member of HSBC Speakers Group to qualify as a Competent
Communicator.
John Tse Tow presented the
Competent Communicator pin to Martin to mark his achievement under
the Toastmasters International Educational Programme. The HSBC
Speakers Group is an in-house club established to improve employee
confidence in public speaking and develop their communication and
leadership skills.
"Toastmasters take an active role
in developing many HSBC staff members and will continue to nurture
our communication and leadership skills," said John Tse Tow.
The event was also attended by
HSBC's Chief Executive Officer, Guy Priestley; Toastmasters Area
Governor for Brunei, Rozana Yunos; HSBC staff and guests from the
