Minister Calls For Quality Goods At Year End Sales

Bandar Seri Begawan - The opening ceremony of 2006 SME Year End Carnival was yesterday held at the indoor Stadium, Berakas.

Present as the guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Awang Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud.

Following welcoming remarks by AMF MAS Event Management Service managing director Captain (Rtd) AH Amran bin Haji Aman, the minister, in his speech, said the carnival is aimed at fostering ties between entrepreneurs and other corporations. He also said for some individuals, the phrase "year end sale' brings to mind an assortment of low-end goods that entrepreneurs are unable to get rid of throughout the year.

The minister, therefore, urged entrepreneurs to change such a negative perception by selling genuine articles of high quality as business etiquette is much valued by customers. "This is one of the conducive factors that can bring success to a business by generating customer trust," he said.

The minister later toured some 50 booths, during which he mingled with the entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, among the side activities held at the carnival include a colouring contest for children aged between four and 12 and a treasure hunt for children aged between nine and 14. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
