Health Promotion Capacity

various ways and forms resulting in serious health implications.
The changes create challenges and
new competitors in the form of re-emergence of old communicable
diseases, emergence of new communicable diseases, emergence of
chronic non-communicable diseases, globalisation, lifestyles, social
ills and accelerated advancement in technologies.
This was stated by Malai Hj
Abdullah bin Malai Hj Othman, co-chairperson of the organising
committee for the workshop on National Health Promotion Capacity
Mapping Tool that was held yesterday at the Orchid Garden Hotel.
"The World Health Organization
(WHO), Western Pacific Region has chosen three participating
countries to conduct their workshops as part of their ongoing
efforts to improve the methodology used in mapping national capacity
for health promotion in countries around the region and Brunei

"The workshop is timely as it is
the appropriate time to make an assessment of the nation's capacity
for health promotion and that it will serve as a starting point for
all stakeholders to coordinate, cooperate and align the health
education and promotion in facing today's Health
challenges/competitors."
More than 50 participants
comprising representatives from various ministries attended the
workshop. The guest of honour, Awg Yusof bin Amba, Acting Permanent
