BAH Marks 10 Years With Website
Launch
By Kartika Rahman
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Brunei Association of Hotels (BAH) marked its
10th anniversary celebrations yesterday with the launching of its
official website.
The function was held at the
Mutiara Ballroom of the Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital. The
website, www.hotelsofbrunei.com, was launched by the Director of
Industrial Promotions and Tourism Development, Ministry of Industry
and Primary Resources, Sheikh Jamaluddin.
In his welcoming remarks, Sheikh
Jamaluddin highlighted the value of spreading awareness by
communication.
"What you are doing is effectively
marketing yourself to the world. You are creating awareness. Without
people knowing of your existence, you have no chance of getting your
messages across. I wish that other associations that are directly
linked to tourism would have their own independent websites," he
said.
"The communication process is such
an important component in any business organisation. It is a sad
fact that many organisations pay little attention to their
communication processes. Every organisation must always find ways
and means to pass through its messages in an effective manner,
whether internally or externally. Quite often business strategies
fail because of ineffective communication processes."
Sheikh Jamaluddin added, "Tourism
is going to play a major role in our economic development. Brunei is
now becoming a destination of choice. We are seeing more and more
visitors coming to Brunei. Some are even using regular chartered
flights! We value their visits and wish them a pleasant stay in our
Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures."
BAH's
10th anniversary celebration also saw the President of BAH, Datin
Hjh Zainah Bujang bring to light the association's numerous
achievements since its establishment, such as the "Big Makan", an
annually-held Brunei Food Festival that showcases local delicacies.
Association members and guests at
the function were later treated to high tea. A lucky draw with
prizes sponsored by members of BAH was also held. -- Courtesy of Borneo
